Trainer

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programs for new hires, existing staff, and management
  • Continuously assess the training needs of hotel staff and design programs that meet those needs
  • Facilitate effective orientation sessions for new hires
  • Provide on-the-job training and support to employees
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all training programs and participants
  • Stay informed about current industry trends and best practices
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as HR, operations, and sales

Working Conditions

  • May work in an office or training room, as well as on-site locations such as guest rooms, restaurant, kitchens, stores, outdoors, and public areas
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Job may require standing for long periods of time and the ability to move around the hotel
  • May be required to travel to other hotel locations or attend conferences and workshops
  • Fast-paced and can be stressful at times due to the demands of the role
  • Requires speaking to, interacting with and animating large audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Outstanding written and spoken English and Swahili.
  • Strong understanding of training and development concepts, methodologies, and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Good understanding of the hospitality industry and current trends
  • Proficiency in technology and digital tools
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire staff

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, human resources, education, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with a focus on training and development
  • Experience in training or teaching.
